Usually “throwback” refers to a glimpse into the past. I took this picture back in July of 2007, shortly after moving to New Mexico.
I remember looking at the sky, and marveling at how incredible it was, which is why I tried to capture as much of it as I could from as many angles as I could – looking back through my viewfinder along the road I had already traveled, while looking in front of me to where I was going above the camera in my hands.
It is the memory of day as much as the surrounding landscape that drew me into this desert state…a tiny bit.
Many people have often said to “keep looking forward” at the road ahead, but sometimes we have to know where we have been in order to truly ‘see’ where we are going and so that we never forget where we came from.
